The COVID-19 situation in Uganda has worsened significantly in the past month as the country faces a dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases and lack of access to vaccines.

It is estimated that only about 10 percent of the need for palliative care in Uganda is met, but specific data is lacking.

The reopening of schools for candidate classes earlier this month was a busy, exciting time for the Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU) team and many of our Road to Hope (RTH) children.

On September 20th, the President of Uganda lifted another phase of COVID-19 restrictions. Entebbe International airport and land borders are now open, and some schools will reopen for candidate classes on October 15th.

Schools remain closed with no signs that they will open this year. Some of the children on the Road to Hope (RTH) program, particularly the older ones, are taking this time to engage in other productive activities.
