In October 2025, Uganda achieved a historic milestone by becoming the only country in Africa ranked at the advanced stage of palliative care development according to the World Health Organization (WHO) indicators.

The 5th Uganda Conference on Cancer and Palliative Care (Sept 10 – 12, 2025) brought together participants from over eight countries and recorded strong attendance.
