Quarterly Update Meetings

PCAU holds quarterly national and regional update meetings that bring together individual and organizational members, health professionals and other stakeholders for learning, knowledge sharing and networking. These meetings serve as Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions, aimed at strengthening the capacity of palliative care providers by addressing topical and emerging issues that support quality service delivery. The update meetings also provide opportunities for PCAU to coordinate advocacy efforts, celebrate successes and collectively address challenges facing palliative care delivery in Uganda.

PCAU convenes four national and regional quarterly update meetings, engaging an average of 180 online participants and 20 in-person attendees per session. Topics are identified by members based on expressed needs and aligned with national strategic priorities for palliative care human resource development. Discussions have extended beyond the palliative care fraternity by engaging experts on cross-cutting issues such as mental health and psychosocial support, survivorship and resilience, and capacity-building opportunities for health providers in Uganda. Regional branch committees further support these efforts by strengthening stakeholder networks, accelerating knowledge sharing and fostering collaboration to expand access to quality palliative care programming.

CHC supports the quarterly update meetings through staff payroll deductions, contributing to the sustainability of these important learning and engagement platforms.
