Roberta Returns to Uganda: A tradition of dedication and partnership

It’s a delight to announce that Roberta, a devoted CHC volunteer and champion of palliative care in Uganda, is once again embarking on her annual traditional journey to Uganda to support the vital work of the Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU). Roberta’s commitment has become a cornerstone of the enduring and impactful partnership between CHC and PCAU, fostering a bond that continues to transform lives across Uganda.

Roberta’s dedication is reflected in the deep engagement with PCAU’s programs, and her presence this year strengthens the bridge between our organizations. Upon her arrival, she will participate in the highly anticipated RTH Children’s Camp, a cornerstone of her visits, where she fosters connections, creates moments of joy, and witnesses the progress of the children she has known for many years.

In addition to the RTH Camp, Roberta will engage in a variety of activities including:

  • Family visits: Roberta will deepen her understanding of the challenges faced by RTH families, offering support and compassion during her visits.
  • Advocacy: She will participate in a workshop to pilot the Spiritual Care Giver’s Guide, designed to equip hospice staff with tools for providing holistic care. Additionally, she will attend meetings with key palliative care stakeholders to amplify PCAU’s advocacy efforts and strategic goals.
  • Educational support: Meetings with Advanced Diploma in Palliative Care Nursing (ADPCN) students will enable Roberta to inspire and encourage the next generation of palliative care professionals.
  • Compassionate Outreach: Roberta will also contribute to PCAU’s compassionate community initiatives, extending her reach to work outside PCAU’s premises.

Roberta’s dedication is more than a testament to her personal commitment – it is a vital element of the strong and fruitful relationship between CHC and PCAU. Her efforts embody the values of compassion, collaboration, and care that form the foundation of our partnership. As Mark of PCAU notes, “We look forward to having Roberta with us once again. Her work has not only enriched our programs but also strengthened the bond between PCAU and CHC. She is truly part of our family.” Roberta’s dedication has long been an inspiration, and her presence in Uganda brings renewed energy to those partnership initiatives.
